Sr. Peggy Doyle, CND

Sr. Helen Klimeck, CND, ever a woman of the parish, has made some 40 WomenForward moves of her own!  Last fall, Helen was asked by a parishioner for a favor. The woman was leaving the US after many years, to return to her family in Canada. She wanted Helen to become her replacement at the Sunday morning senior-care volunteer service she had been doing for many years at a facility on 79th Street.  Helen gamely went with the woman to see what the tasks would be. There were plenty.  However, on Day 1, unexpectedly, as Helen met other volunteers, her 40 WomenForward moment occurred. She met Kelly, a young New York University student and a regular Sunday morning volunteer. Voila! They immediately took a shine to each other; the relationship began. Eight months later, they’re now wonderful friends. Kelly has become part of St. Jean Baptiste parish and last Sunday, she sat down to a great dinner at Apartment B, prepared by Eileen Good, CND.  This week, Kelly happily accepted an invitation from Sr. Peggy to attend the 5-day Catholics on Call conference in Chicago in early August. The conference is planned for 18-30 year olds “who feel called to a life of service in the Church.”  Throughout the year, Helen deliberately and thoughtfully maintained contact with Kelly, and Kelly responded. The two of them ……. now live joyfully that Elizabeth-Mary gift of Visitation!
