From Our Leadership Team
We are happy to announce that beginning on July 1, 2019:
We are very grateful to both of these generous and talented women.
Good News!
Celebrating “82” Years of Life!
At Lourdes we usually ask Sisters how they would like to celebrate their birthdays.
When asked, Sr. Carolyn Kinnamon replied she would like chocolate chip ice cream and CNDs. The ice cream was easy; the CND presence more of a challenge! The CNDs in the area joined us, and the rest of you were there via the US Postal Service. We read Carolyn the cards sent her by the Sisters in the Province. In between each card, we prayed for Carolyn. Thanks to all who write to her. Mary Ann Rossi, CND

Associate News – Sr. Joan Mahoney & Donna Wuhrer
New Associate Formation Group And Candidates: In the February 2018 newsletter, there was an article about the CND Sisters in West Haven at St. John XXIII Parish who invited parishioners to a soup and bread lunch to celebrate the feast day of Marguerite Bourgeoys last January 12th. The Sisters (Marilyn Doucette, Rita Rompre, Catherine McDermott, Jeannette Bolduc, Dolores McKinney, and Ann Perrin) and Associate Marylin Liggins continued to meet with parishioners who were interested in learning more about Marguerite, the CND, and Associate Relationship. During the fall, the group began pre-candidacy formation sessions. On February 5, 2019, during a Ritual of Welcome at the convent in West Haven, the following eight women became Candidates in the Associate Relationship:
We rejoice with the group in West Haven in welcoming their new Candidates and also rejoice with several other Associate groups that currently have pre-Candidates. They are: three in Wilton, CT, three in Kankakee, IL, five in Staten Island, NY. The on-line Blog Community includes two connected to the R.I. group, one to the West Haven group, one living in upstate NY and two Canadians connected to Visitation Province. Please keep all in prayer during their time of discernment and formation.
Associate Judy Laffey Volunteers In El Paso, Tx: Associate Judy Laffey from Rhode Island with other volunteers at Annunciation House in El Paso, TX, on the border with Mexico.
Invited by her friend, Sr. Betty, FMM, Judy traveled to El Paso to care for migrants and asylum seekers in February. Before leaving, she wrote “I feel the sacredness of this journey. I go as a CND Associate, in the footsteps of St. Marguerite and Mary, representing many others and, in gratitude, I bring them with me.” The Associates in RI and other friends provided her with goods and money to bring to this mission. Like the four CND Sisters who served earlier at Annunciation House, she did whatever was needed. Speaking Spanish, Judy was able to help with forms and hear and respond to the people’s stories. She was deeply touched by their faith and courage.

Earth Day April 22, 2019
“In nature, nothing exists alone.”— Rachel Carson, 1962
Earth Day Network is asking people to join our Protect our Species campaign.
“Nature’s gifts to our planet are the millions of species that we know and love, and many more that remain to be discovered. Unfortunately, human beings have irrevocably upset the balance of nature and, as a result, the world is facing the greatest rate of extinction since we lost the dinosaurs more than 60 million years ago. But unlike the fate of the dinosaurs, the rapid extinction of species in our world today is the result of human activity The good news is that the rate of extinctions can still be slowed, and many of our declining, threatened and endangered species can still recover if we work together now to build a united global movement of consumers, voters, educators, faith leaders, and scientists to demand immediate action.”
