CND Contemplative Prayer

Ann Marie Strileckis, CND

Recently, a few of us were privileged to attend the week-long workshop, GOD, EVOLUTION AND THE UNFINISHED SELF given by Ilia Delio, OSF at Maryknoll. Throughout the week, I kept recalling how powerfully connected as one we were when we felt threatened by Rome as our religious communities were being investigated and challenged. And again, a similarly felt unity in prayer when our Canadian CND was kidnapped in Cameroon.

This past Saturday, June 9th, three of us from the Maryknoll experience registered and attended the Neuropsychology of Centering Prayer workshop given by Dr. Charlotte Tomaino, a former Maryknoller, who was a participant with us at Ilia Delio's workshop. We were outnumbered by lay people already formed into centering prayer groups who spoke of physical healing and changing world situations by formulated intention, focused attention and directing our energy in prayer. Integral with these two workshops was experiencing Richard Rohr's twenty minute contemplative prayer, June 5th at 6:30 a.m. Arizona time accessed by video to the entire world. Perhaps some of you experienced this!
