Official Visit of the Congregation Leadership Team

Blessed Sacrament Province

The Visit from our General Administration Team from Montreal has just been completed. Eight Sisters waved them off from the front door of Wilton SSND Community a few minutes ago. We even attempted one verse of “Ave Maris Stella.”

This past week was spent visiting some places in New York City and Connecticut. Thank God we had good weather for all the days we needed it. Beginning at St. Jean Baptiste High School we met students, staff and Board Members. Our schools are exciting, inspiring places of liberating education. From SJB we split into three groups to visit Covenant House, Encore (SRO for the poor) and the Archdiocesan offices.

Supper at St. Columba and overnight in the city was great. An early morning ferry ride to Staten Island was picture perfect. From the Notre Dame Academy bus to the campus we had another enlightening day at one of our own schools. We were sung to by the youngest and entertained by elementary and high school students. A highlight of the trip was Sr. Josephine Badali turning on the solar panels to activate them on the campus.

In CT we visited with Archbishop Blair in Hartford as well as new apartments for the poor on the Cathedral grounds. Another visit to Mercy High where CNDS have been present for over twenty years followed and then a visit to a retreat house in Farmington and finally to supper at Holy Cross in Waterbury.

Our last official visit was to Andrus where the sisters outdid themselves in welcoming us and presenting their home to us in many wonderful ways.

The Area Days were engaging, well attended and enthusiastic. The General Council was deeply impressed by the pulsing sense of mission in every sister in the Blessed Sacrament Province. Thank you for all your efforts these past three weeks and the preparation preceding this visit.
