Birthdays and gatherings!

Visitation Province

Kingston Celebrates: March is a special month for the Sisters of Kingston. We celebrate five birthdays, St. Patrick’s Day and the feast of St. Joseph. Beginning on March 16th a number of the sisters met at 25 Mackenzie to anticipate St. Patrick’s Day and the birthday of our own Sr. Pat Arsenault. The following day on March 17th we gathered at the Providence Motherhouse to celebrate all things Irish plus Sisters Grace Martin, Emily Doherty, Ruth Penny, Josephine Nestman and Pat Arsenault. It was a glorious gathering, as everyone went green and participated in songs, jokes, cake and a touch of the “creature”. March 19th we came together again with the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph to celebrate their paternal feast day with a lovely prayer and festive supper. Now we are settling down to complete our Lent.

Sister Elaine Hawrylak has been so generous with her talents at Parkland Cape Breton. In the past several months, she has led sing-a-longs for several occasions [e.g. Remembrance Day, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick's Day, etc.]

This photo is of Elaine entertaining the residents during the entire dinner hour at Parkland on Saint Patrick's Day. She certainly enhances living at Parkland for sisters and lay people alike.

Celebrating 103rd birthday Sister Catherine MacPhee: On Wednesday the 21st of March, Sister Catherine MacPhee celebrated her 103rd birthday in fine style at the CND Health Care Center. A dear friend and talented piano player, Joey Beaton provided musical entertainment. The atmosphere was jovial with many friends in attendance. Sister Catherine gave an entertaining speech and even managed a jig on the dance floor with Sister Catherine Morris who are both from Colindale, Inverness County. A good time was had by all!

Area Gathering

On March 3, 2018 a group of associates and sisters from Sydney and surrounding areas met at Holy Redeemer Convent. The meeting was led by Sister Eileen McQuaid, Sister Catherine Walker, and JPIC coordinator Monica Lambton. It was a very interesting time as we learned the many ways we can "save the earth" in doing our usual daily routine. We were also treated by the gracious hospitality of Sisters Gwen O’Neil and Catherine V. MacDonald. During the break and at dinner we had lots of time for sharing and catching up with one another; a real Visitation. THANK YOU TO ALL.
