Celebration of The 35th Anniversary of CND Associate Relationship

An American linden tree was planted at the mother house to commemorate the 35th Anniversary of Associate Relationship. It replaced a diseased tree and will provide food for butterflies, bees, and birds.

In our Blessed Sacrament Province, several associates have planted special bushes and flowers at their homes. The Associates of North Carolina are in the process of planting a ‘Marguerite Prayer Garden’ on their Church property. In Pensacola, the associates planted a lemon tree. Sr. Marilyn Doucette was with them for their renewal of commitment and lemon tree planting on June 12. Sr. Marilyn ministered in Pensacola before serving for six years as the Co-coordinator of Associate Relationship at the Central Office in Montreal. This is how Sr. Marilyn described the event.

“We gathered at 10 am on Saturday at Jan's house. The group had decided to plant a lemon tree to celebrate the 35th. Jan has lots of space and is willing to care for it. Gill, Tom & Dominique, Kathy and Jan and I used the prayer service for the Visitation outdoors before the heat index rose to a predicted 104. After the renewal and signing we went to the planting site where Jan had a small tent to help keep us out of the sun. We took turns putting soil around the tree and then each one received a yellow balloon representing the fruit we hope will emerge in coming years from the lemon tree and from Congregation of Notre Dame association. This was followed by an indoor brunch and a few hours of conversation….”
