A Wonderful "Play and Pray Day!"

Sr. Peggy Doyle, CND

The “Pray and Play” day at Quonnie on Sunday, August 10 was wonderful, especially for the twelve young women from Ann Marie Strileckis’s parish in Hartford. These “girls” (across a broad range of ages) were from families originally from Burma: they represented the KAREN culture, spoke in many dialects, had spent extended periods of time in Thai Refugee camps, were attentive, and are quite beautiful. The prayer of the day was centered on Mary’s call at the Annunciation and Marguerite’s call on Rosary Sunday. Many CND’s were behind the scenes before and during the day. Sisters Catherine McDermott, Eleanor Verrastro, Mary Ann Rossi, and Peggy Doyle extended invitations to others who could not attend. The Sisters there at Quonnie offered a warm welcome, particularly Sister Pat Graham whose generous spirit and practical help were invaluable. And the God of Creation spread the glory of a perfect Quonnie day. We were invited to come to Hartford for the KAREN New Year celebration and hope to continue our connection with this particular community of young people.
