LCWR 2015 Reflection Booklet "I Will Give You the Treasures of Darkness"

The Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) presents a new book, I Will Give You the Treasures of Darkness, a reflective resource for our spiritual journey.

As the world lives through chaotic and often difficult times, one of the most important skis we can develop is a capacity to live peacefully in dark and murky experiences. Based on the text of Isaiah 45:3, “I will give you the treasures of darkness and riches hidden in secret places,: the book focuses on God’s work in our lives in the midst of the mystery of darkness.

The images and stories are shared with the hope that they will assist readers to plumb the richness of the dark experiences in their own lives and find the wisdom there that God may be inviting them to discover.

A copy of the 2015 Reflection Booklet has been ordered for each sister. When they arrive in the Bedford office, they will make their way to you either by mail or personal delivery with someone travelling your way.

Thanks and Appreciation

Three of our beloved community members left us in December to celebrate Christmas in the joy of New Life: Sisters Dorothy McCarron, Alfreda Rogers and Margaret Arsenault. Then came the shock of the sudden death of our dear companion, Sister Mary Cummiskey, on January 18. We miss them and mourn the loss of these four beautiful women. However, we are consoled by the tremendous display of sympathy and support we received from community, family members and friends. We are grateful for the beautiful messages from our Provincial Administration Team and so many others from Visitation Province and beyond: letters, cards, emails, telephone calls, etc. We deeply appreciated the presence of our many CND sisters and family members who shared their memories of our loved ones so beautifully at the Memorial Services held before the wakes! The outpouring of visitors at the wakes and funerals and the eloquent tributes expressed by our pastor, Fr. Floyd Gallant, were touching manifestations of the high esteem in which our departed loved ones were held. Our heartfelt thanks to all who showed their love and concern in so many ways!

Associate Relationship

In the past year we have seen the move to two associate co-coordinators in both the Central and Eastern Regions. In June we will see the completion of Winnie Odo’s second term as associate co-coordinator for the Eastern Region. We, the leadership team, are very grateful for Winnie’s many years of creative and generous service to and with associates and sisters. We extend to Winnie our best wishes for a future full of hope and continuing service in new and wonderful directions.
