Visitation Province Assembly - Thursday - July 9, 2015

Visitation Province Assembly communication team

Beginning our mornings in a prolonged period of contemplation of the Holy One, within and all around us, has been and continues to be gift.  In that spirit we included in this morning’s prayer the election of delegates to the General Chapter from Visitation Province.

Deepening the call of our directional statement:  Process was truly the operative word for the day’s work of making our statement come alive in the context of today’s reality.

The Assembly committee had compiled the twelve invitations from the tables into the following four ways to deepen the statement:

  • In our ongoing education and formation;
  • Through our commitment to contemplative practice;
  • To the larger world through our  various means of communication;
  • By joining our energy with the global movements of climate action;

As we listened to the articulation of these four ways, we were attentive to the energy and passion felt around each focus.  We asked:

  • How can our directional statement become even more alive in our daily journeys?
  • What do we need to go forward?
  • How can our directional statement be implemented?
  • What resources do we have?
  • How are we to carry the memory of what we have lived during this Assembly?
  • If not now when?
  • How then … shall we live?

If the energy with which we sang, “How then … shall we live?” which brought our afternoon to a close is a sign of our communion and passion then we can truly say Yes!  We are One in our desire to be who we are called to be today.  Once again our hearts are deeply grateful to each of you for your prayerful unity with us.  We are truly One!  We continue to be most grateful to each member of our Assembly committee and our facilitator Nancy Sylvester, IHM.

Our banquet included the proclamation of a special Jubilee Magnificat and offering of a gift to our Golden Jubilarians.  Afterwards we enjoyed the live music of two artists from Regis College.
