Earth Hour Day at the CND Mother House

Nelia Palma

This year, Earth Hour Day, a global movement organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature, will be marked on Saturday, March 28. Between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. Millions of individuals, communities, households and businesses around the world are encouraged to switch off their non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol of their commitment to the planet.

In Montreal, various activities are organized to help raise awareness. For example, “skating in the dark” at the Atrium indoor skating rink or attending the candle-lit Choeur des enfants concert at Christ Church Cathedral.

Committed to protecting the planet and in solidarity with this worldwide movement, the Congrégation de Notre-Dame’s Community of the Mother House whole-heartedly wishes to be among the six continents, 120 countries, and 24 time zones united as a global community through the individual action of turning off the lights. Indeed, on Saturday night, the mother house will be cloaked in darkness for one hour. This gesture, however, will be a bright beam of generosity, hope and togetherness.
