Lenten Reflection - Second Sunday Of Lent - March 1 Mark 9:2-10

Heather Rousselle CND Associate Miramichi

This is my beloved Son; listen to him.  Mark 9.7

Biblical history reveals that journeys to the mountain were occasions for Divine encounters.  When Jesus led Peter, James and John up a high mountain, no doubt they anticipated that something of wondrous magnitude would occur.  We can only imagine their thoughts as they journeyed up the mountain led by their beloved rabbi, and how they were transformed by their mountain experience.

Like Peter, James and John, God is asking us to listen to his beloved Son. He is asking us to listen not with our ears, not with our minds, but to listen with our heart.  For when we listen with an open heart, we listen with awareness, and are transformed.

Our Lenten journey is an opportunity for inward reflection.  Like the mountain experience, it becomes a journey of transformation when we answer God’s invitation to listen, with our heart, to His beloved Son.  As with any process of transformation, or renewal or re-birth, it’s a life-altering journey.  Trusting in Jesus to lead us, our Lenten journey will be a revelation of our true-self.  For we are all God’s sons and daughters and in the Spirit we are One.

May your Lenten journey be a journey of transformation,

Heather Rousselle CND Associate Miramichi
