This is the 3rd year for our presence at the Fortress of Louisbourg with Congregation de Notre-Dame Sisters and Associates informing tourists of Saint Marguerite’s journey. Lorrette Andrews and Dianne MacAskill had a visit from a PEI Mercy Associate Mary MacLean. Mary is also an ARCAN member.

Dianne MacAskill visited Sister Anne Maureen Cleary in the outside garden at the MacGillivray Health Centre.

Theresa MacNeil visited Sister Bernadine Burke in the garden at MacGillivray Health Centre. June 16th was a beautiful day.

Woodstock Associates Welcome Sister Marijke Gerretsen

Submitted by Woodstock Associate, Marjorie Allison-Ross

During the September 2019 Associate Pilgrimage to Troyes, France to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of the Birth of Marguerite Bourgeoys, Sister Marijke Gerretesen was the tour guide for the group of 19 Associates and 3 Sisters who were part of the group. The 2nd anniversary of the pilgrimage will be September 17-23. Five people from the local Woodstock Associate Group participated in the Tour. Marijke has kept in touch and said that she would like to stop and visit if she was in the Maritimes. So this summer, she reached out to set a date for a visit when she would on her return trip home to Kingston from her PEI vacation. While in PEI, she visited Donna and Jim who were fellow pilgrims.

Sister Eleanor McCloskey joined the Woodstock Associates in welcoming Marijke to NB on August 27th.We enjoyed remembering the pilgrimage, looking at the Newsletter that has been prepared following the Pilgrimage and sharing stories of events. A delicious Pot Luck Supper was enjoyed and warm visitations were shared.

Sister Marijke had organized upon our arrival in Troyes for there to be a Mass at Église Saint Jean Au Marché, the church where Marguerite was baptized on the day of her birth on April 17, 1620.

“When the heart is open to the sun of grace, we see flowers blossom in their fragrance; these are seen to have profited by the word of God ” Marguerite Bourgeoys
