CND Associate Relationship Visitation East

Theresa Ann and myself were permitted to visit our beloved Sisters at MacGillivray Health Centre. Both Rita Chisholm and Margaret MacDonell were thrilled to have Associates join them. They were both anxious for news of their CND families. They expressed the wonderful care they are receiving and look forward to the end of this pandemic.

Sr. Eileen Roach will be doing a second presentation on Pope Francis’ Encyclical Letter Ladauto Si’ on March 9, 2021. This Workshop is being hosted by the New Victoria Associates. As Sister Eileen repeated in her previous session, “We are a gift from God and Creation is a gift from God. Pope Francis is making us aware of the urgency and need to care for our Common Home. Where God is present that is what is Holy. We are on Holy Ground.” It will be held at the Pastoral Centre, River Ryan, NS. Protocols for adhering to covid-19 will be in place.

Celebrate World Day of Prayer March 5, 2021

World Day of Prayer is a global, ecumenical movement of Christian women joined together to observe a common day of prayer. World Day of Prayer 2021 presents us with new challenges mainly the restricted guidelines surrounding the Corona virus but we will overcome them with trust in God, and your commitment and your creativity. A World Day of Prayer service can also be made up at a later date. Nevertheless, it is important to make the World Day of Prayer present at the beginning of March, as this is the actual World Day of Prayer, on which we form a chain of prayer around the whole world.

40 Days of Lent Challenge

This black plastic sack is empty right now, perhaps during Lent, you could fill it with one item per day of household goods and clothes that you no longer need or use and at the end of Lent, donate them. Alternatively, you could put one non-perishable food item per day into the sack and donate it to a food bank. You can also use your imagination to think of how you might fill a metaphorical sack, with those things in your life that you’d like to consign to the trash; the things that you carry around in your heart and mind and soul that you’d like to be freed of, and the sins that you’d like to be forgiven of as you walk the path of daily conversion.

Laudato Si’. Many of you may remember the work of Kevin Moynihan who lives in Halifax and among other things produced and directed “Laudato Si – A Canadian Response.” Five years later his passion and compassion are greater than ever!! Laudato Si’ + 5 is the result. Kevin and his colleagues need help in the distribution if this excellent educational tool is to reach everyone who shares his compassion for Mother Earth. Please click on Kevin’s website below and take a look at his work. http://www.kmproductions.ca/laudato-si--5.html.

A Marguerite Social Justice Call Zoom presentation took place on Feb. 23, 2021 with 46 participants. The facilitator Dominik Tremblay-Perron, CND Social Justice Action Network Coordinator, spoke of the actions needed to eliminate Social Injustice issues. Questions on “What is Social Justice?” and “How did Marguerite embody Social Justice?” Anna Rowley, Central Office Coordinator, hosted this large group separating us into breakout rooms for further discussion on this important mission. Marjorie Allison-Ross read the opening prayer and the song “Let Us Hurry On The Way” written by Robert Lebel for the 400th Anniversary closed the session. Further meetings are planned.

A meeting was held on Feb 21, 2021 at Theresa Ann’s home for the St. Theresa and Holy Angels group in Sydney, N.S. The opening prayer Care for our Common Home was read by Journeying Associate Genevieve Paquette. Topics on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission “a Call to Action” was discussed, responses to the General and Provincial Chapter, our Mission and Orientation Statements, and viewing YouTube videos by Associate Coordinators Jacqueline Fehlner and Maria Vazquez. A book for future meetings entitled The Seed that Became a Garden by CND Louise Finn was distributed. Closing prayer was read by Sister Theresa Sampson.
