Sr. Joan Mahoney, CND

WELCOME FIVE NEW ASSOCIATES: At the joyous Liturgy for the Associate Retreat at Quonnie, five women became CND Associates. Three of them had their formation in Wilton, CT and two online with the use of a blog. How blessed we are in these five new Associates of the Congregation of Notre Dame!

Quonnie Associate Retreat, September 12-14, 2014

The thirty-three Associates and five Sisters pictured above enjoyed a weekend of discernment, prayer, celebration of five women becoming Associates, wonderful meals and many Visitations in the beautiful setting of Quonnie. While Sr. Joan Mahoney and Sr. Mary Ann Rossi led the Saturday processes on discernment, four Associates offered various ways of praying on Sunday. Each Associate was able to choose two of the following experiences: Praying with God’s Creation with Bonnie Cotter; Centering Prayer with Kate Dolan; Praying with Scripture (Lectio Divina) with Kristen Salemi; Prayer in the Digital Age with Sharon Norton. The only complaint was that one could not choose all four! All left with a deepened sense of the community of Associates, new approaches to prayer, and stronger enthusiasm for being Associates.

ASSOCIATE RELATIONSHIP, PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE: Assembly for all Associates, April 17-19, 2015. Keynote: Sr. Patricia Simpson, CND, Marguerite Bourgeoys: Origins of the Associate Relationship. We will reflect, pray, play, plan together. The planning committee strongly hopes there will be Associate representation from every Associate Community. For this purpose, assistance for travel costs is available. Sisters active with Associates are also invited. More information to follow!

NERA, the New England Religious and Associate group, will hold its 20th gathering, Saturday, Nov. 1, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm in Holyoke, MA. The theme is A Look Back – A Step Forward. Associates and Sisters from throughout New England exchange ideas and make connections. If anyone is interested in attending, please contact Sr. Joan at cndassociatesusa@msn.com, by October 16th.
