Sister Gilberte Bussière is free!

Congrégation de Notre-Dame

3rd Press release – For immediate release

Gilberte Bussière, CND, has been released

Montreal, June 1, 2014

It is with great joy that the Sisters of the Congrégation de Notre-Dame have learned, earlier this morning, of the release of Sister Gilberte Bussière and fathers Marta and Allegri, who had been kidnapped on April 5 in Tchéré (Northern Cameroon).

Sister Gilberte is reportedly in good health and she has been taken to Yaoundé, where Sister Thelma Renaud, Leader of the Notre-Dame-des-Apôtres (Cameroon) Region of the Congrégation de Notre-Dame, will be welcoming her. We have no further details at this point. We rejoice with her family, and we wish to thank those who have made this release possible.

On May 31 we celebrate the Feast of the Visitation, when Congrégation de Notre-Dame Sisters renew their vows yearly. This year takes on a special meaning as we also celebrate this great news: Sister Gilberte is free!
