Retreat at Andrews of Charlottetown

We spent three grace-filled days of retreat with Sister Denise Bérubé from May 22-24. The theme dealt mainly with the compassion of Jesus, our call to compassion and the ministry of presence. Denise’s gentle, reflective approach, her use of sacred music, appropriate handouts and a well-balanced schedule all contributed to a prayerful experience. We were fortunate to have daily Mass with our chaplain, Father Bob Coady. We are grateful to God and to Denise for her precious ministry.

A Welcome Visit

On Wednesday, May 29, the Sisters at Providence Mother House welcomed their new Archbishop, Michael Mulhall to join them for dinner at noon in the main dining room. Sister Sandra Shannon, Superior General of the Providence Sisters, introduced the new Archbishop. After speaking briefly, he sat down to dinner. He then went from table to table visiting briefly with the Sisters. Following dinner, he visited the two infirmary floors where he spent a short time introducing himself to the Sisters who were unable to go to the dining room. All appreciated his warm and outgoing presence among them.

From the Formation Corner

As you all know, Sister Libby will be making vows on July 28th. We all celebrate in gratitude for this new moment. During these next two months, Libby will be preparing for vows in an intentional way. For her preparation she will be involved in a two-week integration program in White Plains in the beginning of June. Sisters Maryann Calabrese, Ann Perrin, Catherine Walker and Maco Cassetta will be holding an upper room space for Libby to help with her integration. During these two weeks, sisters in the area have graciously agreed to share personal insights and engage us all in a conversation of the heart to help with integration. I am so very grateful for their presence and witness during our Upper Room experience.

In addition to the preparation period, Sister Libby will be helping and participating with the Quonnie Retreat, given by Sister Josephine Badali, CND. She will then make a private Retreat between June 29th – July 6th in Vermont. Sister Libby will then make her way to Toronto to attend the Visitation Province Assembly. Following the assembly she will participate in one of Maryknoll's Institutes.

Please pray for Libby as she prepares to make vows and begins to make her transition back to Canada. May Mary of the Visitation and Mary of Pentecost intercede with the Holy Spirit and guide her in her footsteps…

CND Associate Retreat

On Saturday, May 25, 2019, Miramichi Associates spent an enjoyable day with Anna Rowley reflecting on the Gift of Gratitude. She shared with us many pertinent stories and songs as well as those of her own personal story as a cancer survivor. We were all deeply impressed with her fine presentation. We also took this opportunity to renew our commitment as CND Associates following Visitation spirituality and the vision of St. Marguerite and Sister Marie St-Coeur renewed her profession vows.

We are very grateful to Anna for coming to Miramichi to give us such a wonderful day of retreat that reflected her enthusiasm, passion and love of sharing with the Congregation de Notre-Dame Associates of Miramichi.

Frances Connell, Miramichi Associate
