CND International Justice Plan of Action

Sr. Rose Mary Sullivan, CND

Aware that human actions are putting the earth in peril, we pledge to work with others in a spirit of dialogue:

  - to safeguard the earth and the equitable sharing of resources;

  - and to ensure quality of life for all humanity, indeed for all creation.

Hence, we plan to take concrete action and remain loyal to our Chapter orientation (2011-2016) pertaining to simplicity for mission.

While pursuing our commitments to various important issues, we are aware that it is urgent that we take action against climate change. For 2014-2015, within the framework of the UN Conference on Climate Change in Paris, we are committed to raising awareness in our areas and to taking action in order to slow down climate change. Each province and region will include at least one concrete measure in its Plan of Action.

We also pledge to develop the spirituality which underlies this orientation in connection with the charism of Marguerite Bourgeoys.

Blessed Sacrament Province Justice Plan 2014-15:  Sisters and Associates of the Province will support the Climate March in New York City and other US locations in the ways they are able by: Actually marching, Signing related petitions, Joining in prayer services etc.

Sisters and Associates will be invited to utilize the resource, Climate Change: Our Call to Conversion and they are encouraged to share what they learned with at least two other people.

The Sisters and Associates will receive alerts and calls to action related to our 4 Corporate Stands: Forgive the Debt of the World’s Poorest Nations, Eradicate Human Trafficking, End the Death Penalty, Repudiate Pre-emptive War and the Use of Torture. In addition, interest groups will be formed to receive alerts and calls to action on other justice issues

This year, we will focus on reaching out to Youth in our justice efforts and to identifying and working with unlikely collaborators in our pursuit of justice.

Promoting forgiveness and reconciliation will be our means of seeking peace.
