Sister Deborah Warner's final vows

Friday, September 21 was a memorable day in Visitation Province as Sister Deborah Warner pronounced her final vows at St. Basil Church, Toronto. And what a celebration it was, as family, including her aunt from Trinidad,  high school friends, colleagues from work, parishioners from St. Basil's and CND Sisters and Associates from across the Province gathered.  Sister Ann Broderick, Provincial Leader, welcomed the visitors to the celebration and Sister Josephine Badali, Congregation Leader, received Debbie's vows.

Debbie had planned the ceremony herself, choosing readings and music which spoke of the commitment she was making.  It was indeed, beautiful, simple and very meaningful, and more fitting texts than those chosen would have been hard to find:  Deuteronomy 6: 4-13; Ephesians 4:1-7, 11-13; Matthew 9: 9-13.

Following the ceremony all gathered in the Church hall for a buffet lunch.   Later in the day, Debbie's family, guests and CND Sisters gathered at Notre Dame where they were warmly welcomed for a delicious meal. It was an evening of joy, laughter and telling stories, all so much in the spirit of Visitation.

As Debbie continues her journey, we offer our prayers and loving support. And in the words of the anonymous author, cited by Sister Ann at the ceremony, we say to her:  "Follow the voice of your spirit.  Remember to dream.  Listen to the wisdom of your soul.   Dance to the music of your heart."
