Marywood closure touches many

The closing of Marywood affected the lives of many in the Cranbrook community. At the Decommissioning Ceremony concrete expressions of gratitude for the work of the sisters through the years were given in the form of tributes of one kind or another.

Sister Nina Glinski was awarded the Rotary International Paul Harris Fellowship Award for her dedicated work in the community since 1994. Mayor Wayne Stetski presented a plaque to Sister Nina in thanksgiving.

Among others who expressed gratitude was a group of Aboriginal women who have been profoundly affected by their association with Marywood. The feeling of those assembled was summed up in a statement: “We are losing the Sisters and Marywood, what is there to celebrate?”

Congratulations and thank you, Nina.
