End Poverty Now! - Part 2

Last week in the Friday FACQs we talked about the JPIC participation in the CRC Atlantic Region strategy session on poverty and the weblink for prayers and discussion questions for the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on October 17:

In addition to that we want to tell you about the Red Tent Canada Day of Action for a Federal Housing Strategy on October 19, 2010.

Canada is currently the only G8 country without a country-wide housing strategy. The result has been a housing and homelessness crisis that the United Nations described in a 2009 report as a national emergency. Bill C-304, an Act to ensure secure, adequate, accessible and affordable housing for Canadians, is set to go before Parliament for a final vote at the end of October. In support of the bill, simultaneous actions are set to take place across the country on the 19th.

Look for red tents this October in Halifax, Moncton, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Edmonton, Vancouver and Victoria.
