“We need constantly to contemplate the mystery of mercy. It is a wellspring of joy, serenity, and peace. Our salvation depends on it. Mercy: the word reveals the very mystery of the Most Holy Trinity. Mercy: the ultimate and supreme act by which God comes to meet us. Mercy: the fundamental law that dwells in the heart of every person who looks sincerely into the eyes of his brothers and sisters on the path of life. Mercy: the bridge that connects God and humanity, opening our hearts to the hope of being loved forever despite our sinfulness.” - - Pope Francis “Misericordiae Vultus"

At the Cathedral parish in Hartford, CT, Sr. Anne Marie Strileckis has spread to her students the idea of giving as a group and proclaiming it wearing T-shirts whenever they do. These pictures show children at the first Children's Liturgy of the school year. The T-shirts are modeled after the Congregation of Notre Dame one, except they added the word, mercy for the Jubilee Year of Mercy and put Pope Francis at the top, "Rooted in Jesus Christ, Cultivating Love, Mercy and Compassion" with a picture of the Cathedral at the bottom. The children did all the readings, bringing up the gifts, ushering and singing. These children come from Thailand, Burma (Mylamar), China, and several African nations. Their parents are from Hungary, Jamaica, Argentina, and Puerto Rico. Sunday, December 13th at 3PM they will celebrate the opening of the Holy Doors at the Cathedral, officially ushering in the Jubilee Year of Mercy.

Vocation News – Srs. Peggy Doyle & Mary Ann Rossi

The Congregation of Notre Dame sisters and associates had a table at Christ Our Savior’s Craft Show. Sr. Marilyn Medinger (standing), Louise Renz (L) and Mary Simms (R) had the opportunity to share information regarding the Congregation of Notre Dame mission and the different ministries in which we are involved.

There were free prayer cards, bookmarks and several descriptive flyers about Marguerite Bourgeoys available for the craft show participants.

Our intention was to peak the interest of participants in becoming an associate, to pray for associate vocations and perhaps have the participants pass our information on to others.

Some people actually remembered being taught by Congregation of Notre Dame sisters and shared their stories.

It was great to engage with other lay people about what is so close to our hearts.
