Blessed are you autumn, season of surrender, you teach us the wisdom of letting go as you draw us into new ways of living. (Joyce Rupp)

Janet certainly is experiencing change and new ways of living. She wanted her apostolic year to be one that stretches her and brings her out of her comfort zone. The change from New York and Chicago to Oglala and the Pine Ridge Reservation definitely shows her another way of life. I visited Janet a couple of weeks ago and she has adjusted very well. She loves the children and is getting a lot of experience being a teacher aide. She works mostly with the first grade, but helps wherever needed from K- 4. Much of her free time is spent outside viewing the wide open sky and God’s creation. Janet is finding God in the children, in community and in the nature that she loves so much.

Janet will return to Chicago December 4 and will be there for December and January. Her second experience will bring her even farther. In February, Janet will travel to Kumbo. Cecile and Cathy will welcome her into the community with the candidates. They are graciously arranging a variety of experiences for Janet.

Janet’s openness and desire to let God lead her is an example of simplicity for mission and an example for me. Please continue to keep her and the community in Oglala and Kumbo in your prayers.
